e: Kristin Rohr
As an artist and a scientist Kristin explores the world visually. Making maps, and interpreting seismic reflection sections she has developed a keen eye for pattern and detail. Using dyes from plants in her garden she interacts with nature to create meditative pieces. Texture, colour and composition are also explored in surface design and stitch to give a sense of different processes occurring through time.
Kristin’s education includes a certificate from City and Guilds Design and Embroidery, Part I, 2003, a Ph.D. in oceanography from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/ Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program, 1983, B.A. in Geology, Brown University, 1977 and various workshops from Nancy Crow, Elin Noble, Martha Ann Cole, Barbara Shelly and others.
Kristin shows her work locally and internationally; details are available on request.
